The Harvest is in, the tithe barns full, the wounds and injuries of Pennsic healed, and the Shire of Sterlynge Vayle is proud to host the AEthelmearc Autumn Academy and War College session on Saturday, 8 November, AS 38 at Trinity Memorial Church, 44 Main Street, Binghamton, NY.
Mark your Calendar; ready your notebooks and A&S Exhibits for a glorious day in Glorious AEthelmearc. As AEthelmearc’s Scholars, Teachers, Fighters and Craftsmen travel into the remote Eastern Marches of the Kingdom. Remus Fletcher, Chancellor of the Academy has announced Classes in the Arts and Sciences are under the aegis of Lady Mea the Bold, Regional Arts and Sciences Minister. Martial Classes are under the direction of Sir Alonzo the Peacemaker, Dean of the War College.
The day will be filled with Classes, Roundtables, Symposia; an A&S Expo; a Games Room; good company and fine food, capped with the opportunity for those still standing to join an open session of the Binghamton Contradancers. Weather permitting there is space in the Close for martial activities. Fighters are asked to bring soft shoes in case they must move indoors to the great hall.
The site is Trinity Memorial Church at 44 Main Street, Binghamton, NY. The site is smoke-free and the main floor is handicapped accessible. Open flames are permitted in the dining room and while the site is damp, period containers are preferred. The site opens to the populace at 9:00 A.M. and closes to all at 10 P.M.
Comestibles and Potables will be the responsibility of the Cooks Guild with a splendid lunch board served up under the direction of Marianna diGuilianello, while a Harvest Feast will be orchestrated by Lady Johanna die Errotend.
The price for all this is a reasonable $8.00, including Lunch and $14.00 including lunch and Feast. As is our usual practice children less than five are Free and young persons five to fourteen are half price. Please remember the only true reservation is a paid reservation. DIRECTIONS:
From the North or South, you make your way to I-81 and proceed to Exit 5. At the end of the Ramp turn left on US11 (Front Street) and proceed south to the intersection with Main Street (17C). Turn right onto Main Street and going to the first light, turn right onto Oak Street. Trinity is the gray stone church on the corner. Parking lots are located on the right hand side of the street next to Trinity House and beyond.
From the East or West make your way to NYS-17, I-86. If coming from the West, in the City you will bear to your left to I-81 North at “Kamikaze Kurve”. If coming from the East, in the City you will bear to your right to I-81 North at “Kamikaze Kurve”. Exit 5 from I-81 is the first exit after the Junction and you proceed as above.
